Being a nurse, therapist, wife, dog-mom, daughter, sister, auntie and friend shapes who I am today. I care about people and am passionate about helping other women find their light, and lead their best life. In my downtime I enjoy crafting, searching for vintage & antique finds, walking my dog, Max, and travel.
I became a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2012 and have practiced in community and public health settings before moving into private practice. Through my nursing role I began developing my counselling skills, supporting individuals, families and communities to build healthier habits to restore health, and prevent disease and injury. My work with moms and families during pregnancy through the postpartum period and beyond inspired me to pursue further education in psychotherapy. I established this practice in 2022 with a dedicated focus on empowering women in their journey toward health and well-being. In 2023, I became dually registered as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), aiming to broaden access to psychotherapy services for clients with workplace health benefits.
Advocating for change, and helping people navigate the healthcare system is an important part of my practice. I recognize the variety of factors that influence our health beyond personal risk factors, they're called determinants of health and include things like education, social support & connection, working conditions and culture. I became intrigued by the common thread mental health weaves across all areas of our lives, and the struggles that come as we're pushed to our limits. I've witnessed how resilient humans are in their ability to overcome these challenges with self-care, compassion and support along the way.
I approach therapy from a person-centered and strengths-based lens, focusing on you as a person and what you can do, recognizing that your struggles or diagnosis do not define you . Therapy with me is tailored to fit your needs, seeing you as a whole person and not just your symptoms. As humans we are each unique, yet share the common need for human connection. In working together, you will experience respect, compassion, warmth, and humour during our sessions.
I use an integrated and trauma-informed approach to therapy, drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches and theories, including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-Based Theory, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Ecotherapy, Mindfulness and Motivational Interviewing.
